Took a walk with my dog. It was a long walk.I did not tighten the leash, each scent was sampled, and we lingered at every corner.A few blocks from home we picked up a familiar scent and found its source hiding in the shadows.We chased that gang of raccoons. A bunch of chickens they were. It was a fun chase, but they escaped down the sewer.While catching our breath we stumbled upon our first Cicada. A scared male making a lot of noise.Its nervous reaction scared us even more so we bit into its exoskeleton.After this first encounter I looked up and saw the first shooting star. Real quick across my right peripheral.Ran into a Cicada or three at the end of every block it seemed. They were camped out under trees and street lights.We saw 3 shooting stars total.The second was the best. It streaked across the sky for a good 10 seconds. It burned more brightly before it died leaving a huge streak of white across the sky.We sure showed those raccoons whose boss this time.Now me and my best friend are laying under the fan and falling asleep. Well, she is anyway.Sleep can't find me. I've been up for a long time again. Worse than usual.I did have a pleasant dream last time I slept. Slaying spiders and predators of the like.Slept with a ghost too. But its my waking hours that are haunted.
